Hurt foster dog needs our help.

I am a formerly homeless dog who was fortunate to be taken in by a rescue.  I will never forget that kindness and try very much to help dogs who are in a similar situation or worse.  Today I ask everyone to please read about Charlie, a sweet dog who was taken in and being fostered by Eleven Eleven Animal Rescue in Montreal.  He was hit by a car and badly injured.  The rescue needs money for his surgery.   You can read more about Charlie's injuries and see what a sweet vital dog he is here:

If you can give any money to help him, that is wonderful.   If that is not possible,  please consider passing on this information to your friends and by keeping Charlie in your thoughts.

Cat a who la? Cat a hula?

Contrary to popular opinion,  a Catahoula is not a Cat that does the hula!  The Catahoula Leopard Dog (and I'm one) is a really interesting breed of dog!  Catahoula is the part of Louisiana where we are said to originate.  You can learn more about the origin and characteristics of the Catahoula on these sites:

I'm a very Catahoula-y Catahoula!  I'm reserved with strangers, very sweet and devoted to my people, freakishly smart, have great problem solving skills and I'm very athletic.  I have webbed feet.  I don't like to get them wet and they're hard to clean so that kind of isn't the best!   Even if you've never heard of the Catahoula Leopard Dog, once you've seen us you'll know that we are really very attractive, wonderful dogs.

Ten Facts about Sid

My friend Henry is a wonderful bear. He passed this award on to me, meaning I need to tell you all ten things about myself. Since I haven't said much yet here, that won't be so hard.
  1. I was adopted by Matt and Lisa in August 2008. That is a much larger story but, for now, that's all you need to know.
  2. Before I got adopted I was found in central Illinois living in a cornfield with my siblings. I don't remember how I got there or how long we were there.
  3. My favorite toy in the world is my Planet Dog Snowball! I have back-ups. I will not play catch with any other ball and think I should be its spokesdog!
  4. I'm a gentle doggy who lives kitties. I wish one lived with me at our house. Maybe some day.
  5. I do NOT like puddles or getting my feet wet ever. Ick. Bad. Ick.
  6. I am not a herding breed but people think I am. I do not herd but other dogs try to herd me at park. I do NOT approve of this.
  7. I sleep in the bed in between Matt and Lisa at night!
  8. When I am really happy or really annoyed I swish my tail and make a weird doggy PURR. I will try to get Lisa to catch it on video one day.
  9. Catahoula Leopard Dogs can climb trees but I have not tried it yet.
  10. When the doorbell rings I know if it's food delivery or a stranger. If it's food delivery I yip and make Wrorrow noises. If it's a stranger I bark all fierce.
  11. I had to add this.  The Google ad on this page does NOT reflect the worldview of me/my people nor does it indicate support of this candidate.
At this point I'm supposed to tag 10 other friends to do this. I don't know of 10 friends with a blog but here are some:

Since I haven't been blogging a long time I'm not sure if other friends are here or want to participate. Please feel free. I love all my friends, want to know more about them.

Donuts, no coffee

This morning I started off my day with a coffee and donut. It's brutally cold in Chicago so I need to make sure I get enough carbs.
I was a little upset that Lisa would not share her coffee but I let nothing go to waste.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I am Sid

Hi. I'm Sid. I'm a rescued Catahoula Leopard Dog. I live in Chicago with my humans, Lisa and Matt. My full name is Sidney Wigglebum Catahoula O'Keefe. This is where I'll talk about my life, but not today.

Today I'm busy laying on the floor and the bed and then on the guest bed. This is a serious activity, requiring concentration, focus and real commitment. Later I'll take a quick break, go on a walk with my dog walker/sitter Tessa. I'll zoom and wiggle when I get back and return to the bed laying. I'd tell you more but don't want you to collapse from excitement.

But, yes. I am Sid. This is my blog. Hi!
